Malaysia gets more chocolate centres


Two chocolate companies have recently set up new facilities in Malaysia. US brand Hersey Company has set up an R&D facility to fuel product innovation for its markets worldwide. The company said the 10,400 square-feet facility is a significant investment in the Malaysian market. It will house the R&D laboratories, a packaging development facility, and a sensory area. These sectors will enable the company to partner with various innovation teams to taste-test and shortlist iconic products known and loved by consumers across the globe.
The centre will also serve as AEMEA's hub (the Asia Pacific, including India and China, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa) for innovation and technology. The new facility will also enable the confectionery company to quickly develop, test, and launch new products customised to consumers' tastes across the region.
Meanwhile, Barry Callebaut, a global manufacturer of high-quality chocolate and cocoa products, will open a business excellence centre in Petaling Jaya. The centre will handle the company's finance and other corporate services, including customer service, information technology and human resources for the Asia-Pacific region. It will be fully operational in the third quarter of 2022. The new centre can easily be accessible from the firm's existing cocoa and chocolate factory in Port Klang, Selangor.
