Grave concerns for food safety amid the current COVID-19 pandemic has prompted the GS1 Hong Kong (GS1 HK) to launch Trusted FoodNet. GS1 HK is the local chapter of GS1, which provides global supply chain standards to enhance supply chain transparency and efficiency.
Trusted FoodNet is an online platform that uploads and displays food suppliers' and restaurants' quality and safety certifications. Information uploaded on Trusted FoodNet can be accessed by business buyers and consumers anywhere, anytime. GS1 HK said as online shopping prevails, consumers' demand for more transparent and reliable food information is also soaring. The online platform aims to foster open communication sharing among the F&B community.
May Chung, chair of the Hong Kong Food and Beverage Industry Advisory Board of GS1 HK, said: "With the growing emphasis on food safety, we have been working closely with the F&B industry, leveraging innovation, technology and global standards to ensure food safety and build consumer trust.
“The 'Trusted FoodNet' initiative by GS1 HK has our full support, which I believe will enhance the transparency of our trade. I hope industry peers will join the platform to increase trust among stakeholders and raise the bar for food safety together."
More than 150 food products with certificates are now available on the platform. To know more, click here. (Image from Pixabay)
