At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy (ASR) in Singapore has unveiled a two-tiered public service campaign amidst the worldwide fight against the COVID-19. The first tier is a series of videos called “StandUp & WashUp” featuring nine Michelin-starred chefs in Singapore advocating proper hygiene such as the washing of hands before handling food.
“It’s a privilege for us to be part of this public service initiative. As a chef, high standards of food and personal hygiene needs to be practised at all times,” Sebastien Lepinoy, executive chef of Les Amis restaurant, said. “I’m glad to be given this opportunity to share my knowledge with the public and educate them on the proper techniques of washing one’s hands so that we can fight COVID-19 together.”
Meanwhile, the second tier of the campaign involves At-Sunrice Easy Chefs, the leisure arm of the academy launching the Kitchen Safety & Hygiene e-learning programme for homemakers, domestic helpers, caregivers, and the general public.
The course has three main segments: Learn & Application, Review & Assessment, Assignment & Validation. It will also use the "StandUp & WashUp" videos as a learning tool. Upon completion, participants will be awarded certification by ASR. The online-learning approach is a logical and safer option to attending physical classes in this time of COVID-19, the academy said.
