Boutique hospitality brand X2 [Cross-To] Resorts has unveiled a stylish new dining destination, following the recent opening of X2 Pattaya Oceanphere, its latest boutique resort in Thailand.
New bistro offers "Instagrammable" fare |
The new Ocean Bistro is the hotel’s vibrant all-day restaurant, nestled just 450 metres from the shore. In this setting, chefs will create contemporary à la carte menus that focus on local sustainable seafood, prepared in Mediterranean and Thai styles.
The new restaurant is harnessing locally-sourced and seasonal ingredients, to offer selections comprising of innovative international dishes and exquisite Asian options, including Thai comfort foods, all plated in vivid and highly “Instagrammable” presentations.
Interestingly, the restaurant will place a unique focus on canned sardines, which are served in a tapas style on small wooden trays, accompanied by a selection of vegetables, salads and sauces. These underrated delicacies are perfect for sharing, and sardine cans form a strong part of the restaurant’s artistic design concept, says the new restaurant.
“Bang Saray has a rich history as a fishing community and was once home to a notorious band of pirates, descendants of whom still reside in the village today,” Steve Lockhart, cluster general manager of X2 Pattaya Oceanphere and X2 Vibe Pattaya Seaphere.
“Ocean Bistro will reflect this heritage by focusing on fresh flavours and local ingredients. With its casual ambience and modern vibe, this is the perfect place to savour exceptional cuisine and reconnect with your family and friends.”
Light, bright and colourful, Ocean Bistro also showcases the region’s maritime heritage with coastal patterns, sea life artworks, raw timber and Pasaya fabrics resembling the sea, sculpted onto the ceiling. Chalkboards behind the counter echo the style of a traditional seafood shack, while the chic design includes driftwood and fishermen’s baskets. The restaurant also features an open kitchen which allows guests to see the chefs in action, creating a sense of culinary theatre and a connection between diners and their dishes.
X2 Pattaya Oceanphere features luxury villas designed to resemble rice terraces gently cascading towards the seafront. The resort can be reached in just 1.5 hours by car or taxi from Bangkok and Suvarnabhumi Airport, making it ideal for busy urbanites seeking a relaxing weekend break.
