The Irish Food Board (Bord Bia) recently brought to Singapore seven of Ireland’s leading beverage companies to meet up with players in the Singapore beverage industry across whiskey, gin, beer, cider, cream liquor, vodka and mixer categories.
Opening the event was Ireland’s ambassador to Singapore Patrick Bourne. The event consisted of an Ireland – Singapore Sustainable Beverages Seminar, followed by a B2B matching session with participating Irish companies and VIP trade reception.
Denise Murphy, global manager for Beverages, Bord Bia, gave a presentation on Irish Beverages in the World & Opportunities for Growth, where she revealed that in 2018, Irish whiskey was the fastest growing spirit category on the world. As recently as 2013 Ireland had just four distilleries nationwide and by end of 2018, this number had grown to 30. Today Irish whiskey and gin are exported to 130 countries, Murphy explained.
In this interview with Tasty Asia, she discussed more about how Bord Bia is helping Irish companies such the Clonakilty Distillery, Five Farms Irish Cream Liquour Company, JJ Corry Irish Whiskey, Na Cuana, Poachers Premium Beverages, The Shed Distillery, and the Tipperary Boutique Distillery pour more Irish spirits in the Asia-Pacific region.
